Band In Boston Flophouse Sessions #141

We were kindly invited to play the Flophouse Sessions over at Band In Boston earlier this year. It was a ton of droney-fun. Here’s what they had to say about our performance:

“I have no idea how to describe Paper Thin Stages. Let’s try… Improvised, experimental, atmospheric, and trippy as hell. I totally found myself drifting off into lala land a few times as they played. Not recommended while driving or operating heavy equipment. Perfect for a snowed-in weekend.”

New Music, Old Formats?

We’ve been hard at work on a batch of songs, and hope to have a new record done in the first part of 2009. The songs are shaping up to be more simple in execution, and easily repeatable. As well, we have focused our ears back on “Blazing Lasers…” and hope to have that record finished soon. We’re working on making it our first full-length vinyl offering.

Please grab the free download Magic Jar Of Jar Of Animal, and check out the many live shows and recordings we have available in this blog. See you soon.

This show was really fun! Pfefftiffuff and Night Trees were lovely. Martin was a great addition and it was exciting to ditch the stringed instruments for an evening. Something interesting always happens when your amplification setup is patched together in a fashion where you cannot differentiate between what you are playing and what everyone else is playing. It’s a soup that forces you to become one big instrument. Please enjoy the synthesized sounds.

10/16/08 The Music Workshop

This was a great night! We were honored to have Ernie Kim and Forbes Graham play with us, and Jules Vasylenko with Breakfast At Penderecki’s were fantastic. We hope to post some pictures that Tommey Seggers from Artists-at-Large took soon. Please browse the upcoming shows at The Music Workshop, because it is a great space for music that has a hard time finding a home.

We were on first, and the set has a good deal of low end in it, so crank up the speakers. Breakfast at Pendereckis’ set was brilliant, so keep the levels hot for them as well. Click to download, or press play to stream.

09/18/08 Russian Dogs #1

Vic Rawlings and Jay Sullivan performed first. Jay played an array of tiny keyboards and prepared vinyl, while Vic attacked a prepared cello and a very interesting and beautiful homemade synthesizer(s).

09/13/08 Live in the Practice Space

For the second installment we have four separate tracks recorded as we rehearsed for RUSSIAN DOGS at the Lily Pad. All of the tracks sound like improvised pop songs. The drums were amplified with contact mics and were routed through the first two modded pedals below. Many of the synthesized bass sounds came from the third:
